    Materials in Motion

    Materials shape more than spaces

    Date: 18.06.2026

    Edition 37

    Good design starts with materials.

They shape experience, influence behaviour, and determine how a space looks, feels and performs long after completion. From bold colour palettes to circular design strategies, material choices have the power to turn concepts into lasting environments.

This month, we're spotlighting projects, collaborations and ideas that are pushing material thinking forward, exploring innovation, reuse, craftsmanship and the role materials play in creating more engaging, responsible spaces.

Here’s what’s inspiring us right now.

    Spotify Listening Lounge

How do materials influence the way we experience sound?

Curated by CAKE Architecture, the Spotify Listening Lounge explores how colour, texture and light with Karlite, can shape atmosphere and encourage deeper engagement. A space designed to be heard as much as seen.

    Guildhall Chambers, Bristol

A workplace designed to stand the test of time.

Guildhall Chambers brings together durable, considered materials that support the demands of a busy working environment while creating a space that feels warm, welcoming and contemporary.

    National Maritime Museum

Designed for longevity, built for visitors.

At the National Maritime Museum, Richlite supports a busy public environment where durability and experience go hand in hand, demonstrating the value of designing for the long term.

    Clerkenwell Design Week

We joined Aqua Libra and Studio Egret West to explore how material choices can support circularity and lower-impact design.

The Aqua Libra mobile showroom brought together innovative surfaces and early-stage prototypes made from Durat and Richlite, demonstrating the potential of reuse within commercial interiors. Across the festival, projects such as BREW HOUSE curated by Studio Egret West and featuring reclaimed Skatelite panels, further highlighted how waste materials can be transformed into valuable design resources through collaboration and experimentation.

Together, these installations showcased the growing role of circular thinking in shaping the future of interiors and architecture.

    Looking Ahead

Since becoming a Certified B Corp 2 years ago, challenges and actions have been shaping how we work. Our Impact report shares updates across governance, workers, community, environment and customer impact, alongside goals for the year ahead.

"Certification was never the finish line for us, it created a stronger framework for how we operate and make decisions, but the real work comes after. Continuing to learn, improve and push our growth and impact further.” - Scott Campbell, Managing Director

We're currently working on a range of projects, alongside new material innovations and takeback initiatives designed to keep valuable resources in circulation.

We look forward to sharing more soon.
