    Impact report 2026

    The journey continues

    Date: 29.05.2026

Two years on from becoming a Certified B Corp, Surface Matter has released our latest Impact Report, sharing the progress, challenges and practical steps that shape the way we work across governance, workers, community, customers and environmental impact.

On our second anniversary of joining the community of Certified B Corps, our latest annual Impact Report is here. Since certification in 2024, we've continued building on the framework and accountability the B Corp movement, including:

    • embedding new policies
    • expanding team benefits
    • strengthening how impact is considered across operations, partnerships and customer services

Highlights from the past year include becoming Living Pension accredited, introducing Low-Carbon Travel Days and an Electric Car scheme, certifying 40% of the team in Carbon Literacy training and transitioning to 50% women ownership.

We also expanded the services of Material Rescue, a dedicated circularity initiative focused on reuse, repair, refurbishment and takeback strategies designed to help keep valuable materials in circulation for longer.

Alongside operational improvements, we continued engaging with certified B Corps and impact organisations including ReLondon and the Better Business Network, while supporting environmental fundraising initiatives with Project Salt Run.

Our latest impact report also reflects openly on areas where we haven't quite hit the mark and progress is still ongoing, such as with stakeholder engagement and preparing for the next generation of B Corp standards ahead of our recertification in May 2027.

“Certification was never the finish line for us, it created a stronger framework for how we operate and make decisions, but the real work comes after. Continuing to learn, improve and push our growth and impact further.” -Scott Campbell, Managing Director

Our Impact report shares updates across governance, workers, community, environment and customer impact, alongside goals for the year ahead.
