    3 Days of Design 2026

    Playful Design Experiences

    Date: 01.07.2026

    “Don’t forget to Play!”

A world of play. Powered by design.

For 3daysofdesign 2026, Durat presents The Playroom - an immersive installation where materials become games, objects become conversation starts and design invites participation.

Curated by Jussi Laine of Nemo Architects, the exhibition brings together three leading Finnish design brands - Durat, Finarte and Johanna Gullichsen - in a vibrant exploration of colour, craftsmanship and material innovation. Visitors are encouraged to touch, explore and play, discovering familiar materials through entirely new experiences.

"The Playroom transforms materials into moments of curiosity — where play becomes a catalyst for creativity, connection and design."

    Finnish Design Through Play

Play has always been woven into the fabric of Finnish design. Rooted in curiosity and experimentation, it challenges convention while celebrating the beauty of everyday life.

Drawing inspiration from the phrase often associated with Alvar Aalto - "Don't forget to play" - The Playroom explores how creativity emerges through making, testing and interaction. Textiles, surfaces and furniture come together in a tactile landscape where function and imagination exist side by side, revealing the joyful spirit that continues to define Finnish design.

    New from Durat

The exhibition opens with a lunch by renowned wild food chef Sami Tallberg of Ateljé Sami Tallberg, where bespoke Durat chopping boards showcase the material's versatility beyond interiors.

    Palapeli shelf

Durat also unveils Palapeli, a modular shelving system by acclaimed Finnish designer Harri Koskinen. Named after the Finnish word for "jigsaw puzzle", the design celebrates adaptability, connection and playful composition, allowing users to shape spaces that evolve over time.

    Pikkupikku sinks

Also debuting is Pikkupikku - meaning "teeny-tiny" in Finnish - a compact sink designed by Jesse Pietilä. Designed for smaller bathrooms and compact interiors, Pikkupikku demonstrates how intelligent design elevates even the most modest spaces, pairing practicality with Durat's distinctive material expression.

Together, these launches embody Durat's design philosophy - circular, colourful and crafted to inspire lasting interaction.
