Maker Mile Surface Matter for London Design Festival route of creativity
The Maker Mile is a one mile radius creative cluster of over 50 makerspaces, fabricators, design studios and workshops in East London. The area centres on where Mare Street crosses the old industrial transport hub of the Regent’s Canal, denoting the boundary line between the boroughs of Hackney and Tower Hamlets.

Maker Mile returns to the London Design Festival for its third year, now as an official Design Route. Some of the area’s most innovative spaces are showcasing projects, installations and exhibitions for the Festival, all within a short walk of one another, opening for the whole festival so you can visit on Saturday when nearby Broadway Market is buzzing, or explore the creative cluster during the late night opening.
