Urban oasis

Hillside house

An urban oasis with a reimagined family kitchen, inspired by the vibrancy of one of the client's children's book illustrations. Designed by Mike Tuck Studio who push themselves to constantly innovate, and are always investigating how to turn ideas into built spaces that work for the client and the environment - designing materially rich buildings with healthy spaces robust enough to live comfortably.

The variety of textures and colours extend into the bespoke kitchen cabinetry, drawer fronts, joinery and exposed steel. Selecting the finishes with the client, they've created a "bold and playful, yet practical and comforting" cohesive space. The made to measure kitchen extension has sleek storage brought to life with a colourful feature island clad with Plasticiet Chocolate Factory, a circular surface made in the Netherlands from 100% recycled polycarbonate from worn-out confectionary moulds. Fabricated by MILK Furniture, who work with quality materials to make sustainable solutions for clients that will stand the test of time. Using recycled plastic on the island will stand up to any kicks and knocks from every day life in the kitchen, and is crafted in a way that works with the smaller 800 x 800mm sheet size.
