Tactile table tops
Taylor Hawkes created bespoke table tops for Kansas Smitty's Jazz Bar on Broadway Market in East London, Hackney. Designed and produced locally, the bar tables made of Richlite Stratum have had concentric rings CNC routed into the surface of the tables to reveal the contrasting bamboo core layer. The rings are inspired by sound waves, a reflection of the mood and music of Kansas Smitty's. Using Richlite as a material, Taylor Hawkes were able to explore how the table tops interact with the light and sounds from the performances on stage.
