Since 2013 we have worked with some of the most inspiring materials, from sheets made from paper to ones made from recycled post-industrial plastics, growing our core collection to include our most recent addition, Plasticiet. Back for our third year at Surface Design Show, Surface Matter is showcasing its pop-up sweet shop of materials that don't just 'do the job', but they 'make' the job.

With LED lights sprinkled like 100s and 1000s, bowls of miniature samples and raw material shreds, Surface Matter creates a modern material twist on a classic sweet shop. Colourful terrazzo nougat made of Durat recycled solid surface, chocolate bars of compressed paper composite Richlite and circular Plasticiet lollipops, the stand brings together colours and textures.

Designed and built by Shape Studio, the stand is inspired by our materials studio in London Fields that is often referred to as a 'sweet shop for materials' by designers and architects. Having been re-vamped successively from last year's stand, this years design focus is on reuse, recycling, material innovation and process.

The stand will showcase the new product launches, including four new colourways for the Durat Palace Collection which has been created in a collaboration between Durat and Moonra Agency. The ‘eco-luxury’ solid surfaces incorporate raw earth minerals and natural pigments from an 18th century Dutch paint mill.

Richlite Cascade expands with reboots of retro style colour combinations of their ultra-strong layered paper composites - Shasta, Baker and Hood.

And, newly launched in the UK, Plasticiet materials - Black Rock, Blizzard 2.0, Chocolate Factory, Ivory and Rhinestone 2.0 - rethink plastic waste, turning it into the new gold with a look like marbled stone.

Surface Matter are on hand to talk all things wonder-materials at Surface Design Show 08-10 Feb 2022 on Stand 360.
