Leathery wall panels in Richlite Maple Valley with Edge trim detail at Tonkotsu

Tonkotsu

Textured walls

To reflect the bold flavours and warm atmosphere of Tonkotsu’s East London ramen bar, Moreno:Masey Studio designed a pared-back, tactile interior using Richlite wall panels. The natural warmth of Richlite Maple Valley contrasts with deep black surfaces in the dining area, creating a striking yet comfortable space that wears with time. Used throughout the restaurant’s walls, Richlite offers the look of crafted timber with incredible durability — ideal for busy hospitality environments. Its warm tone, layered texture and matte finish echo Tonkotsu’s brand ethos: unfussy, honest and full of character.

A material made from compressed recycled paper and resin, Richlite’s low-maintenance and high-performance make it great for restaurant designs where atmosphere and practicality are key. This project brings together sustainability—using recycled offcuts of the edge trim as border details—simplicity, and street-level charm in one of London’s liveliest food scenes.
