The Diner is an exciting Pop up created by Surface Magazine and David Rockwell in honour of the magazine's 25th anniversary. The Diner is a unique experience taking place at Ventura Centrale from the 17th to the 22nd of April, during the Salone del Mobile design and furniture fair. It will take you on a road trip from coast-to-coast through the United States with four distinct environments — the Roadside Diner, the East Coast Luncheonette, the Midwest Diner, and the West Coast Diner. Rockwell’s vision will be enhanced by emerging and established US based designers. Loll Designs recycled plastic furniture including the Taavi, Fire Benches and Go Swings will feature in this recreation of the classic American roadside restaurant.
It will be a space for casual yet intimate connections, where strangers will become community. During the day, a contemporary twist on the iconic American food and drink, alongside a conversation series and other programming; at night, the space will transform into a nightclub with featured performances and DJs.
